Leading the Charge
TDM-EV – a turnkey provider of electric vehicle charging solutions – is the “perfect fit for Random Hall Hotel” says its owner Richard Loftus.
Set amid the beautiful Sussex countryside, just outside Slinfold Village and 10 minutes from central Horsham is Random Hall Hotel, a 16th century country hotel boasting 14 en-suite bedrooms, a bar and restaurant and a large function/meeting room for celebrations and conferences. It also offers an exclusive golf plus two course dinner, bed and breakfast package in partnership with Slinfold Golf & Country Club.
Since taking over the Hotel five years ago, owner Richard Loftus has been on a mission to provide high quality food, accommodation, and service at sensible prices. With increasing numbers of drivers moving to hybrid or all electric vehicles (EV’s), it quickly became clear to Richard that an EV charging solution was needed to cater to this trend and futureproof the Hotel’s services.
With its team of OZEV approved installers, expert electricians, and civil works’ engineers TDM – EV was able to provide Random Hall Hotel with a full turnkey service for its electric vehicle charging needs.
Following a site survey, which included sign off from the DNO (Designated Network Operator) TDM-EV gave Random Hall Hotel a quote for five wall-mounted midi 22kW Socketed Smart Chargers each of which came with smart functionality to meet the latest 2022 OZEV regulations; management and monitoring applications; RFID tag operation; a charging app and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The contract was won, and lead TDM-EV lead engineer Sam Vaughan called in the grounds team to start digging, ducting, and running the cables. On the importance of communicating fully with the customer throughout the process, Sam said:
“If a site doesn’t need any groundwork, we won’t get the groundwork team involved. With some new installations the customers already know where the chargers are going to go, and we put the pits in. Our services are fully customisable and every installation is different depending on what the customer wants and needs.”
Towards the end of the installation at Random Hall, a TDM-EV electrician was there to ensure that power certification was obtained, while Sam got involved in the configuration and the setting up of the software.
Owner, Richard Loftus said:
“We are very happy with the work TDM-EV did for us. In terms of the number of guests using electric vehicles it’s still early days, but we are expecting to see more. Word will get out there that we have EV charging stations and the more it does, the more we will become the hotel of choice in the area for EV drivers.”
TDM – EV’s Managing Director, Geoff Vaughan said:
“An OZEV authorised installer, TDM-EV is pleased to be ‘leading the charge’ by providing high quality, affordable electric vehicle charging solutions for companies large and small. With 2023 set to be one of the best years for electric vehicle adoption yet, it is vital that businesses cater to this need and help to drive the growth of electric vehicles by putting the provision of EV charging stations as the top of their agenda.”
